- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilkMilk plus 1 tbsp vinegar
- 2 large eggs, separated
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1½ tsp pumpkin pie spice
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup maple syrup and butter, for serving (optional)
